Victoria Falls Educational…

25 07 2008

I departed from Cape Town International Airport at 06h30 for my flight to Johannesburg. On arrival in Johannesburg, I headed to the International terminal. Here I was met by the Safpar team. During this time, the rest of the group was introduced to each other. The group consisted of 10 agents in total: 2 Safpar representatives, Flame of Africa, Wildfrontiers, Maplanga, African Encounters, Detour Africa, Ashanti, Air Holiday and of course myself from Jenman Safaris.

From the 18th April to April 24, I went on a three day educational hosted by Safpar!

Shortly thereafter, we boarded our flight to Livingstone! We proceeded through immigration, collected our baggage and off we went for the start of our trip!
We started off with a drive through the town of Livingstone which is quite an authentic African town. There were little markets along the side of the road selling everything from poultry products to clothing!

From there, we did our first site inspection which was at the Bushfront Lodge. The lodge is very clean and comfortable with a perfect setup for those travelers wanting some peace and quiet!

We then headed off to Thorntree Lodge where we spent the first night.

Day 2 was probably one of the highlights of the trip! It may be due to the fact that we visited the Victoria Falls! This was absolutely AMAZING! Just the walk through the rainforest area and the feel of the spray was just something else!

We then crossed the border and headed to Zimbabwe. We spent the second night at Masuwe, which was my absolute favourite. These luxury tented camps were stunning!

I had loads of fun on day 3 as well! We started off with a canoe safari! Rowing through those rapids was pure fun!

We then headed back to Zambia. We did a site inspection of the David Livingstone Safari Lodge. To end the formal part of the trip we went on a sunset cruise along the Mighty Zambezi. Our last night was spent at the Zambezi Waterfront. The Waterfront has their own activities centre where activities such as rafting, canoeing, bungee jumping can be booked!

The morning of day 4, we had some time at leisure before heading to the airport for our flight back home. During this time, I gathered enough courage to do a microlight flight! This was amazing! The view from the Falls from high up there is just breathtaking!

Overall, the trip was wonderful! I am now definitely more aware of what these areas have to offer!
