Jenman Safaris Guide Review

4 02 2010

Hello Andree,
I would like to use this way to thank you (again) personally for all your work you did for us on safari – you are a pleasant and humorous guide with great driving and cooking skills! You gave us great information about the country, people, flora and fauna & taught us about the social structures of the places we visited.  That was a definite highlight….

I really like learning all these facts and am going to scan some more detailed information (I last studied in 1981 – left school then) on the colonial era because I realize how little I know about these topics… but ill work on this.

I admire your effort of giving us an understanding of environmental protection as well an understanding of the local population because it must be an enormous challenge.

Also your endeavor to restrain tourists from picking anything anywhere – no matter if its stones, sand, shells or seeds, I share your attitude – there is no need to take things from A to B. Often people actually dispose of this item at the place of departure, because everything weighs too much once and they cant keep it.

Over the past few years (and still today) there has been a ban on the exports of natural produce in the Sultanate Oman (enacted by the sultan) to protect and conserve the existing heritage – similar  concept to what you taught us.

You cooking menu was great, you proved your ability as chef every day, and I often was surprised with what you have whipped up for us. A culinary highlight for me was the Boboti but I also really liked the grilled Kudu dishes…yum!

The commitment from you and your team in Cape Town during my displeasing situation (theft of my travel documents) will remain a positive memory because of your quick and thorough help.  Your prompt action and help is something I am only really appreciating now and proves to me that Jenman African Safaris operates with a high level of service. I want to thank you and all of your colleagues for all of your effort! The flow of information via e-mail, telephone and fax was an extremely helpful tool to update me on the state of affairs and progress. For me it was a great experience having received perfect help in such an unexpected situation, I also want to take my hat off to the teamwork with Dresden. Knowing that there is a quick process to find a solution by the staff at Jenman African Safaris proves to me that the staff does not regard the customers as a simple “process” – they get involved in the needs of the individual (me) on a very high level.

For the next trips I wish you:

Nice fellow travelers, no blowouts, dry firewood, the correct amount of falling stars and people who like having bacon and eggs followed by baked beans after a dish of oats for breakfast. ;) …do not do anything I would not like to do!!!

I drank so much rooibos on safari and already had some at home before I went on tour – so as you can imagine when I got home I was pretty tired of drinking and seeing rooibos!Tomorrow there is senior citizens’ dance in the local community hall – there was an appeal for donations in the mailbox… the table tomorrow will now be richer by several tea bags of rooibos and many bags with cookies.

But enough now, time is just running unbelievably fast, it is time to go to bed.

Take care, stay well and hearty, drive cautiously and do not let yourself be annoyed, grit your teeth and do it

See you

Heike

wow, it is really nice to have a “pleasant and humorous guide”, right? Even better, knowledgeable and passionate to show local culture and life.
