Only when my plane was about to touch down in Frankfurt did I finally realise that my time in South Africa was over… Since then it has been two weeks… I’ve almost settled down in Germany again (even if I still walk on the “wrong”, left side of the pavement). The first few days were quite exciting – it was great to see my family and my friends and I continued doing what I did on my last days in Cape Town…

I just wanted to let you all know about my trip to Namibia in the hopes that it might inspire some of you to visit this beautiful country!
My 10 day adventure began as I landed at the Hosea Kutako International Airport. Stepping out into the hot African it really hit me that I was in Namibia and that my dream holiday was just beginning! We were met by our guide and taken to our accommodation (the Roof of Africa Lodge) so that we could freshen up after our long flight. Later that day we were treated to a city tour of Windhoek, the capital of Namibia. It was great to learn more about the history of Namibia and to see the quaint old fashioned town of Windhoek. By the time my head hit the pillow that evening all I could think about was exploring the famous red dunes of Sossusvlei that I had heard so much about, even though we were only going to visit them at the end of the safari…

Investing in a fancy camera and a an 11-week DSLR photo course seemed to be paying off because I was allowed to be one of the very first people to see our Khwai Bedouin Camp personally and of course take & deliver some images for our office and all of our interested partners & clients.
The week before I was due to leave I witnessed our new Ops assistant Joanne and our Operations Manager Wayne preparing the set-up of our new camp. Only after having seen the camp complete (after helping to set it up) I realized how much work it must have been to think of really everything…

The time has come – yesterday was my last day at Jenman Safaris! I am now sitting at home on my couch writing this and I still can’t believe it… Maybe it was all the excitement and fun of the world cup that made the time go that much faster?! With only a few days left in Cape Town I decided to do as much as possible…
On Saturday we (my house mates and I) got up quite early and went to the food market at the Old Biscuit Mill in Woodstock. As the sun was shining we decided it was summer again…

The launch of the new Khwai Bedouin camp is a first for Jenman Safaris. This bush-camp, coupled with a brand new Botswana safari, offers beauty, relaxation as well as exciting game drives, comfortable accommodation and a one-of-a-kind experience.
The recent launch, May 2010, is an exciting new adventure for Jenman Safaris who for many years has run numerous popular safaris in and around Botswana. Never before have they had their own locally run Botswana bush-camp – offering superb accommodation and a brand-new safari!

Week 19 (14th – 20th of June)
We are now in the second week of the World Cup 2010 tournament hosted in South Africa and we are luckily in Cape Town which means we are amidst the buzz of it all! Everyone is still excited about the games and some South Africans are even evolving into proper soccer fans. In contrast to Europe, people here (SA) watch rugby and cricket rather and hardly watch much soccer. But since the World Cup started you hear more and more people talking about the day-before and the upcoming games – even the girls at work, which is quite a development

Week 18 (7th to 13th of June)
Feel it – it IS here!!!
No one who currently is in Cape Town would doubt that.
And you definitely feel it – no matter where you go. And yes I am talking about the Soccer World Cup!
You feel it if are trying to make your way to town or out of town… a trip that should be 20 minutes takes you an hour instead as some roads are closed due to the FIFA Fan Fest or you feel it in the queue at the supermarket where instead of a short queue, the queue starts a few meters after the entrance.

Dear World Cup visitors,
Now that you are safely in our country you are no doubt happily realising you are not in a war zone. This may be in stark contrast to what you have been bracing yourself for should you have listened to Uli Hoeness or are an avid reader of English tabloids, which as we all know are only good for wrapping fish ‘n chips and advancing the careers of large-chested teens on page three.
